The opening on 19 April 2008 of the exhibition 'Tafelhoeden - schaalobjecten in vele hoed-danigheden' (bowls, vessels, dishes) was a very festive occasion indeed. So many interested people came, that the openingspeech had to be given outside in the courtyard of the gallery. After that people took their turn to view the objects which have been made especially for this exhibition by thirty silversmiths from The Netherlands and Belgium.
Last year Studio 925 organized a similar project (with jugs) under the title 'Ken 't dat ik u kan?' Twenty-two silversmiths took part, so it is great to see an increase in participants this time. Moreover, among the new participants young silversmiths, either just graduated from college or having started with their artistic career in the past few years, form the majority.
Robert Guillaume Kuijpers, a hatcouturier originally from New Zealand, spoke the openingword. He did so in an informative, humorous speech in which he used many expressions in the English language with the word hat in them.
The exhibition will run till the end of May (31) ; opening hours Thursday, Friday, Saturday 12.00 - 18.00, and the Whitsun weekend. If you want to visit another moment, just give a ring : 0182 - 38 67 23.
A catalogue can be obtained at Studio 925.
