The National Silverday lies behind us. More than 22.000 people visited Schoonhoven this day with beautiful though extremely hot weather.
It was the 30th time the National Silverday was organized, and for that reason the Commissaris van de Koning of the province of Zuid-Holland opened it by unveiling a tile in the pavement in front of the impressive house of a 19th century silversmith. This is the first of a series of tiles, which together will form a 'Walk of Fame', telling the 'silver' history of this small town.
In the Turfkelder there were two shows - one for innovative work in jewelry or corpus silver. The other with the results of the masterclass which five young silversmiths followed earlier this year, given by Jan van Nouhuys. They also put out other work they have made.
The public reacted enthusiastically to the explanations about the work.
