At the pAn Fair Jan van Nouhuys will celebrate his 35 years of silversmithing.
It all started in a picturesque, romantic, but fairly dilapidated courtyard cottage in the old centre of The Hague, in 1976. It was a lot of hard work, learning through restoring antique silver, making new pieces but never selling them.
In 1987 he moved his workshop to Schoonhoven, where he was teaching at the College for Gold- and Silversmithing. This proved a time where the students and Jan stimulated and enriched each other. It worked both ways. The artist in Van Nouhuys started to develop and blossom.
Taking part at the pAn Fair since 1994 also turned out to be of vital importance in his development. For when works are sold, a sign of appreciation, there is room for making new work.
At this upcoming Fair Studio 925 will show some exciting new work, as well as some highlights from the past.
