On the 29th of August (2010) the new Synagogue for the Liberaal Joodse Gemeente was opened in Amsterdam Zuid. It was designed by the architects of SeARCH. Besides it being a house for prayer and learning for the growing liberal Jewish community in Amsterdam, it is also meant to be a meeting place for different religious and ethnic groups.
The enormous window in the shape of a seven-armed candlestick makes the spacious interior into a light and bright place.
Jan van Nouhuys was asked to make a scale model in silver.
