The recently by Jan van Nouhuys made object 'Furioso' has a form based on a cube. The top has been given a so-called twisted 'chessboard' relief. This relief has been derived from preliminary sketches by M.C. Escher, which helped him to create his 'Print Gallery' (See the book Maurits C. Escher, An Obstinate Talent, by Jan Willem Vermeulen).
Each of the sides is a different visual interpretation of the top-pattern and gives the object a great fluidity. It has a very dynamic, almost wild appearance : FURIOSO !
