On 18th February 2021 the book on the 40 years that Jan van Nouhuys worked as a silversmith will be launched.
This will take place as part of the opening of the exhibition 'Ground Hope' with work by Jan van Nouhuys at the Nederlands Zilvermuseum Schoonhoven.
It tells the story of a man who became a silversmith, got fascinated by the craftmanship of his illustrious predecessors of the 17th century, and realized that this craftmanship could in fact make silver relevant to contemporary needs, the moment the silversmith allows himself the freedom to work as an artist.
Marc Couwenbergh, the writer, gives an analysis of how Van Nouhuys, searching for his own 'handwriting', built an oeuvre that is unique in quality and quantity.
The book contains the pictures of sixty objects, superbly photographed by Fred Weegenaar and Rob Glastra.
The book can be ordered already now with : www.picturespublishers.nl.
