After two-and-a-half weeks Friday 19 July the Masterclass 2019 drew to a close.
Wednesday 3 July the seven participants met up with Jan van Nouhuys and Kees Oele, teacher silversmithing at the Vakschool, for an opening dinner. The next two days were spent talking over the designs and calculating the amount of material needed - silver, brass, titanium.
Ten full days of solid hard work followed.
The participants - all silversmiths already - came from several countries : Israƫl, England, Scotland, Germany and three from Holland.
The change of location, from Van Nouhuys' workshop to the Vakschool Schoonhoven worked well. The school was enthusiastic about having the Masterclass. Some students were able to attend the discussions about the designs, and felt they learned a lot.
The Masterclass being held in the Vakschool meant that more people could follow it.
This year's Masterclass, like the three before, was generously sponsored by the Strand Links foundation (Stichting Strand Links).
The same applies for the Masterclass of 2020.
Students who have graduated in metalwork can apply.
