Silverweekend

For the first time this year the National Silverday, always on Whitmonday, was extended over the weekend. And for the first time the event was international. Ten silversmiths from Belgium and the UK put up an exhibition in the Turfkelder, a beautiful space with its gothic vault underneath the Town Hall.The Saturday and the Sunday built up, as far as numbers of visitors were concerned, towards the climax on Monday, when around 16.000 people visited Schoonhoven.

The reactions of the public to what was on show were very positive, and the silversmiths felt as if in a warm bath. No doubt the beautiful weather contributed to this as well! Hopefully, this first experiment will be repeated next year and grow in size and stature.
