At the Artantique Fair Utrecht a special exhibition has been created around the theme "trends and rages through the ages".
The 17th century hype around the tulip (tulipmania) evoked the making of exquisite porcelain vases in Delft. One of these is exhibited, as well as the equivalents of our days in response in ceramics and silver. Naturally, the well known paintings with beautiful tulip bouquets are represented, and again a photographic work of the 21st century based on that tradition.
Jan van Nouhuys' vase 'Totem', a stackable tulipvase consisting of four parts, is regarded as the highlight of the present day objects on the theme.
