While the public attention for contemporary silver is growing in the world, there is declining educational attention for the development of the required craft skills at universities and art colleges worldwide. Silver in Motion, a platform for contemporary silver, provides a sound answer to that with its 'Program of Excellence'.
On behalf of the Foundation Silver in Motion Jan van Nouhuys presented this statement to the Minister of Education Ronald Plasterk during his visit to Schoonhoven in 2009. To symbolize the fact that silver at the end of the 20th century has become so much more autonomous than before, Van Nouhuys had made a hat (silver and brass combined) and put it on during the Minister's visit.
