It was a very festive occasion indeed when Hiroshi Suzuki received the Schoonhoven Silver Award from the mayor of Schoonhoven, April 3rd. The whole event took place in the Bartholomeus Church in the centre of the town. Hiroshi had travelled from Japan to attend the ceremony. After having lived in Britain for 15 years, he is now based in Japan again, where he has accepted a teaching post for silversmithing at the University in Tokyo.
The ceremony was attended by an international group of silversmiths who had taken part in the contest with the theme 'Poetry in Silver'. An honourable mention was given to Junko Mori from the U.K./Japan and Ja-Kyung Shin from Germany/South Korea.
Studio 925 had its opening exhibition in 2004 with the work of Hiroshi Suzuki.
