Book: Jan van Nouhuys - Silver Art

Flyer book Jan van Nouhuys Zilverkunst - Silver Art

On 18th February 2021 the book about Jan van Nouhuys and 'his journey with silver', as Jan likes to put it, will be launched.

This will take place as part of the opening of the exhibition with work by Jan van Nouhuys at the Nederlands Zilvermuseum Schoonhoven.

It tells the story of a man who became a silversmith, got fascinated by the craftmanship of his illustrious predecessors of the 17th century, and realised that this craftmanship could in fact make silver relevant to contemporary needs, the moment the silversmith allows himself the freedom to work as an artist.

Marc Couwenbergh, the writer, gives an analysis of how Van Nouhuys, searching for his own 'handwriting', built an oeuvre that is unique in quality and quantity.

The book contains the pictures of sixty objects, superbly photographed by Fred Weegenaar and Rob Glastra.

The book can be ordered already now with : www.picturespublishers.nl.
